History can be engaging when you experience it with the highly acclaimed Broadway play, "Six." You don’t have to be a fan of history to enjoy "Six — The Musical," though. Its message of girl power, brought home through powerful music, makes seeing this play an memorable sensation.
The original Broadway play production of "Six — The Musical" received two Tony awards, including for Best Score. After debuting on the West End and appearing on Broadway, you now have the ability to catch "Six" in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The touring production of "Six" will deliver the spectacular score to Benedum Center on Sunday 12th October 2025.
"Six" originated as a stage production by the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society in 2017 in the United Kingdom. The positive reviews of those engagements resulted in a professional production that toured the country in 2018.
"Six — The Musical" made its official run on London’s West End in 2019. It had a well-received run until the pandemic prevented events for most of 2020.
However, the play continued to receive favorable reviews and was went on a series of tours around the world. Eventually moving to New York City, where it was the first new show to begin performing on Broadway after COVID-19.
It continues to tour across the country and the world today. An unique twist to the creation of "Six — The Musical" was that Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss used actual musical icons to model the characters. They drew inspiration from musicians like Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Adele, Celine Dion, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Alicia Keys during character development.

Six is that theatrical adventure you always needed, but you had no clue you wanted! If we're frank, no one could have predicted being a massive fan of a performance that parodies the lives of the wives of Henry VIII and imagines them doing a musical! The knowledge that you're going to need to “get” this production is in your old textbooks. That might make an interesting experience even before you reach the theater because it might be a good idea to brush up on what happened with each of Henry's wives before you visit Benedum Center on Sunday 12th October 2025. That way, you'll get all of the inside jokes and the banter, especially between Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn.
History teachers worldwide can gain insight from the playwrights of this one! It's tough to get people engaged in a history course. When Henry VIII is involved, though, the tale includes gossip, beheadings, and a lot of affairs, so it draws people in that people naturally love these things. The way it's delivered through all of these tunes is going to have you standing up, laughing, dancing, doing all that you'd hope to experience at a musical! By the way, it's also a lot less formal than your typical musical experience, so that idea of being on your feet won't be too frowned upon. Think of it like the Mamma Mia energy!
Some of the most ideal spots inside any theater for a stage show are typically toward the heart of the theater. That's the middle, however you view it, which means in the heart of the venue and at least a handful of rows removed from the stage.
