Many long-time fans of Neil Diamond still remember when his 1976 album, A Beautiful Noise, first was released. Hit Broadway musical celebrating Neil Diamond, is now coming to to Pittsburgh for several shows at the legendary Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this fall.
The jukebox musical entranced audiences from the very beginning with a mesmerizing Broadway show and memorable songs. The production follows the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, opening in the present day with Westenberg inside in a therapist’s office. As Diamond, he explains how he can no longer perform like he used to while the doctor helps him cope with that realization throughout A Beautiful Noise. The play goes back to Diamond's childhood days, showing his introduction to music and all memorable moments since then, including his ascension to stardom and struggle with depression. The scene for the performance is a therapist’s office, where Neil Diamond and a psychiatrist examine his life and along the way reference his lyrics. The songs come alive, giving even the most loyal fans of Neil Diamond a new take on the lyrics.

The idea for A Beautiful Noise came to fruition in Boston in 2022. Neil Diamond and his wife attended the opening night show. The shows writers collaborated with Neil Diamond to bring to life a true musical spectacle.
By late 2022, the show debuted on Broadway in Manhattan. It continued on Broadway through mid-2024. When the musical ended its run in NYC, the shows producers announced plans for a North American tour.
