Footloose was first launched in 1998 and is an incredibly popular musical based on the 1984 film 'Footloose'. The music is incredibly popular, created by Tom Snow (among others) along with lyrics by Dean Pitchford (with additional lyrics by Kenny Loggins). During live shows, the music requires an impressive line up of two keyboards, two guitars, a bass guitar, drums, percussion and a woodwind player. The show itself has two Acts, following the story of Ren McCormack, an ordinary city teenager in a dance club in Chicago. Ren takes to dancing to rid himself of his stresses from long and arduous eight-hour working days. But when Ren has to move town with his mother, the youngster faces problems with his talent in the new town of Bomont.
The much loved show follows Ren's struggle to bring dance back to the town of Bomont. Though Ren faces many challenges, the fantastic show explores the inspiring concept of trusting the open mindedness of youngsters who are dedicated to their talents.
The show itself has won many awards, including various Tony Awards for Best Choreography and Best Original Score.
